This is an interesting yet simple .gif map showing the continuos land domains of the Roman Empire, from its early days in Italy to its last days in Constantinople. Interesting to me mostly because it shows several division via color of the way it divided its control over regions, more importantly the division between West and East Roman empire. This division is little know and understood by people today, yet it still plays such a large roll in modern day geopolitics.
